The Perfect 5-Day LGBT+ Itinerary for Santiago
Welcome to my home, Santiago! As a native Chilean and the co-founder of Pride Tours, there is nothing I love more than sharing the real soul of my city with visitors.

Chile's capital is a city of incredible energy and contrasts, where historic neighborhoods meet a modern skyline, all under the watchful eye of the Andes mountains. I've watched it grow into a safe, progressive, and welcoming hub for the LGBT+ community, and I'm incredibly proud to show it off.
To help you plan the perfect trip, I've put together my ideal 5-day itinerary. This is how I would guide my closest friends—a perfect blend of iconic sights, world-class flavors, and breathtaking nature.
Day 1: Arrival & The Heart of the City
After arriving at Santiago's airport (SCL) and settling into your accommodations, your adventure begins. The best way to orient yourself is to dive into the city's historic and cultural heart. I always recommend our Heart of Santiago: A Queer History Tour for the first day. It's more than a simple tour; we wander through the Plaza de Armas, see the La Moneda Presidential Palace, and explore the bohemian-chic neighborhoods of Lastarria and Bellas Artes, all while I share the stories of my country's journey toward equality.
Evening Suggestion: Stay in Lastarria for dinner. It’s my favorite neighborhood for its fantastic, welcoming restaurants. Check out our Santiago Restaurant Guide for our top recommendations! As the night goes on, you'll feel the energy of these neighborhoods begin to buzz, which brings me to an important tip...
A Note on Santiago's Nightlife
You can't talk about Santiago without mentioning its incredible nightlife! The city truly comes alive after dark, especially in the Bellavista neighborhood, the heart of our LGBT+ scene. However, the best nights to go out are typically Thursday through Saturday. Because your travel days might not line up perfectly, I haven't assigned our nightlife tour to a specific day in this itinerary.
Instead, the best way to experience the city's best gay bars and clubs safely and like a true local is on our Santiago's Gay Nightlife tour. We'll show you our favorite spots, handle all the logistics, and make sure you have an amazing, hassle-free night out. We can easily swap one of the evening activities or adjust the itinerary to fit this unforgettable experience in.
Day 2: Coastal Charm & Color
Today, we're heading to the coast for a full day of art and sea breeze. The best way to do this is on our Valparaiso City tour, as we handle all the driving and logistics.
You will fall in love with the chaotic, colorful hills of Valparaiso, a UNESCO World Heritage city. We'll get lost in its maze of street art, ride the historic funicular elevators, and soak in the unique atmosphere that has inspired artists and poets for decades. It's a place with a soul unlike any other in Chile.
Evening Suggestion: After a full day of walking, you'll be ready for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a simple dinner near your hotel or try a classic Chilean "once" (a light evening meal with tea, coffee, and pastries).

Day 3: A Taste of the Valleys
After two busy days, today we slow down the pace and indulge our senses. We'll head just outside the city to one of Chile's most prestigious wine regions.
Our Maipo Valley Wine Experience is the perfect way to spend the day. You'll relax and enjoy guided tastings of our world-famous Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon at beautiful, historic vineyards. We only partner with wineries that are not just excellent, but exceptionally welcoming. It’s a day of sophisticated flavor and beautiful scenery.
Evening Suggestion: After a day of wine tasting, enjoy a fantastic meal in the vibrant Barrio Italia, known for its diverse culinary scene.

Day 4: Choose Your Adventure
For your last full day, I want you to choose the experience that speaks most to you!
Option 1: The Adventurer - Andean Majesty
If the mountains are calling, this is the day. Our Embalse el Yeso tour is a spectacular journey into the Cajón del Maipo canyon. The highlight is the breathtaking, turquoise Embalse el Yeso reservoir. The epic scale of the Andes here is something you'll never forget. We even pack a gourmet picnic with wine to enjoy in the heart of the mountains.
Option 2: The Urban Explorer - Savoring Santiago's Flavors
If you'd rather stay in the city and dive deeper into our culture, then join our Santiago Food & Markets Walking Tour. We'll explore the incredible La Vega Central market—a true feast for the senses—and try classic Chilean street food. For the ultimate relaxing afternoon, you can follow it up with an
exclusive tailored massages.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy one last great Chilean coffee. Depending on your flight, this is the perfect morning to pick up some souvenirs or the beautiful lapislazuli jewelry in places like Centro Artesanal Santa Lucía or Pueblito de Los Dominicos. From there, it's time to head to the airport, filled with incredible memories.
I hope is that this itinerary gives you a glimpse into the incredible diversity of experiences you can have using Santiago as your hub. This is the city I know and love, and I'm confident you will love it too.
